8th December 2013
Our first show for our homebred Sable Bitch Shandlmain Mariposa (Posa) was at Lincoln Open Show held at Newark. At the tender age of 6 months 'Posa' won the Puppy Class and was also awarded Best Puppy in Breed by Breed Specialist Heidi Gallagher (Gemheid). We did not stay for the Group as this was 'Posa's' first outing.
29th December 2013
Our last show for 2013 was held at Godmanchester being Luton CS Open Show, Judging the Breed today was Tan Nagrecha (Chandlimore) who Breeds St. Bernards to the highest calibre. We were very pleased that 'Posa' continued her winning ways with being placed 1st in the Puppy Class and awarded again Best Puppy in Breed. This time we stayed for the Puppy Group whereby a very bored 'Posa' was awarded Group 2 so a very happy day for us at Shandlmain.
9th January 2014
Today we attended Boston Championship Show held at East of England Showground at Peterborough. Judge Sue Bird awarded 'Posa' 2nd in Puppy, 'Posa' decided today was a good day to play in the ring but enjoyed the experience of her day out.
11th January 2014
Today, back to Boston Championship Show, this time not exhibiting but sitting the Rules and Regulations Seminar and Exam under UK Kennel Club Accredited Trainer Mrs. Christina Chapman. I was very pleased that I passed with 100% pass mark. On returning home, our tri colour bitch Seryphina Stormkissed (Kenya) had started her labour under Mark's supervision so a long night ahead ensued.
12th January 2014
This morning, after a sleepless night, Kenya delivered 8 puppies, 2 blue Merle Dogs, 2 Blue Merle Bitches, 2 Tri colour dogs and 2 Tri colour Bitches. Unfortunately one of the Blue Merle Dogs when delivered the amniotic fluid was discoloured and the puppy was born gasping, the puppy passed away 48 hours after birth. The remaining 7 puppies are all healthy and thriving. Well done Levi and Kenya. this mating is a repeat of last year's mating that produced our beautiful Shandlmain Blu Genes, fondly known as Krista, who moved to Sweden to live with Micael Johannson of Seabounds Rough Collies. We hope to see Krista later this year when we visit the World Dog Show in Finland.
19th January 2014
News from Spain where our co-owned Smooth Collie Jack Mack's Hefin Huw (Tien) has been staying with co-owners Nick and Anne Smith (Tentola) for the past year. Tien won Best of Breed on both the Saturday and Sunday which now makes her Portugese Junior Champion and Porto Winner 2014. Tien was also shortlisted in the Group final 6 which is excellent for a bitch that is only 16 months old. The title of Portugese Junior Champion joins Tien's other titles of Gibraltar Junior Champion and Spanish Junior Champion. Tien has one last showing weekend to attend at Granada on the weekend of 15th/16th February 2014, after this, Tien will be coming home to live permanently in the UK here at Shandlmain and we, along with Nick and Anne, will campaign her in the UK.

Today we discovered that our lovely homebred blue merle bitch Shandlmain Pesquero Blue (Freyde) has come in to season so decisions now have to be made as to whether we mate Freyde on this, her 3rd season.
2nd February 2014
After much discussion between Mark and myself, we have decided to mate Freyde on her 3rd season. I was personally debating this being as though we have puppies here at the moment anyway but with looking ahead, Freyde will be due in season next when we are away in Finland during the summer, Freyde is regular as clockwork like her mother Cherry and has a season bang on every 6 months, so the decision was made to line breed Freyde to our own homebred Tri Colour Stud Dog, Shandlmain You Doo Voodoo who is Sire to 'Posa'. Voodoo today has successfully performed his duty twice, so we are now playing the waiting game with 'Freyde' to see if she has conceived. If this mating has been successful, puppies will be due approximately 6th April 2014.
16th February 2014
Today we travelled south to Bletchingly for London & Provincial Collie Club Open show where Judge Yvonne McGrath awarded our lovely Shandlmain Mariposa 1st Minor Puppy Bitch and then Best Puppy Bitch in Breed. We enjoyed the day thoroughly.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Tien finished her show career in Spain by moving up to the adult classes and winning at Granada Championship Show CAC with Adult Pastoral Group 3 and then at the Granada International Championship Show the following day, Tien won CAC, CACIB and again Adult Pastoral Group 3. Next journey for Tien is coming home to the UK.

1st March 2014
At last! After a long time waiting Tien our Smooth Collie Jack Mack's Heffin Huw (Imp Deu) has come home! Nick and Anne (co-owners) travelled by road with Tien and we had entered her for British Collie Club Championship Show where Anne handled her under Judge Ruth Gibson who awarded her 1st in Junior Bitch and qualified her for Crufts 2015.
6th March 2014
Tien's next show was Crufts 2014 where Anne handled Tien again for the last time for a while under Judge Carole Smedley Tien was awarded 1st in Special Junior Bitch and another qualifier for Crufts 2015. This is Tien's last time she will be in the age classes as at her next show she will be over 18 months old and as she has won 2 x CAC and a CACIB in the adult classes abroad, Tien will move straight up to Limit or Open classes. Now it is my turn to handle although I have said that any time that Nick and Anne are in the UK they can handle Tien if they wish.
4th April 2014
Our lovely homebred blue merle bitch Shandlmain Pesquero Blue (Freyde) gave birth to a litter of 8 puppies out of our homebred tri colour dog Shandlmain You Doo Voodoo (Voodoo). Freyde gave birth to 4 tri colour bitches, 2 blue merle bitches, 1 tri colour dog and 1 blue merle dog. Unfortunately, one of the blue merle bitches was extremely small and passed away but the 7 remaining puppies are gaining weight fast and thriving.

3rd and 4th May 2014 produced fantastic news from Sweden. Shanldmain Blu Genes (Krista), bred here at Shandlmain and exported to Sweden into the more than capable hands of Micael Johansson of Seabound Rough Collies, won her first CC with Best Of Breed, then went on to win BEST IN SHOW, this being a Working Group Championship Show in Sweden. Krista showed non stop all day for Micael and had to beat Champions from other Breeds to win Best in Show. Very Proud Day!
The following day and another show for Krista, whereby Krista showed her socks off again to win her second CC and again Best of Breed, Krista went on to win Best Junior in Show and Reserve Best in Show (as it is known in the UK) or Best in Show Runner Up (as it is known in Sweden) beaten by only one other dog! Krista is only 11 months old. We are both extremely proud of her and what a fantastic weekend for Micael.

25th May 2014 Today we travelled the 4 hour journey to Bath Championship Show where our homebred Sable Rough Collie Bitch, Shandlmain Mariposa, was shown under Mrs Jan Underdown and qualified for Crufts 2015. Posa will be taking a break from the ring now for a while whilst her coat changes.
3rd August 2014 We have been busy raising Freyde's wonderful litter of puppies so have had our hands full for a while. Today though we took time out to show our homebred Shandlmain Cloudshill (Lawrence) under John Blake at EACA Championship Show. Lawrence was handled by Anne Smith for us today, Tien should have been shown at EACA but came into season last week and as Anne and Nick had come over from Spain to show her, we offered Lawrence to show instead. This is Lawrence's first Championship Show and he qualified for Crufts 2015.
6th August 2014 saw us flying out to Finland for the World Dog Show 2014 held in Helsinki. We were kindly invited by our dear friend Marj-Riitta La Maut who has Voodoo's younger full brother in Finland. It was a wonderful few days in Finland, we were pleased to see Timi (Shandlmain Soul Strider) be awarded Excellent and Best Dog 4 in Show at the Collie Speciality Show and then for Timi to also be awarded excellent at the World Dog Show in a very strong Open Dog class. It was also wonderful to see good friends over our long weekend, including Micael and Fredrik who own Krista (Shandlmain Blu Genes) although Krista was not at the World Dog Show, preferring to drop her coat for the summer. How wonderful though that Micael and Fredrik's wonderful Skipper won Reserve Best Dog Rough Collie at the World Dog Show and their beautiful bitch Sissel won Best Bitch and Best of Breed. Many congratulations to Micael and Fredrik.
29th August 2014 Our wonderful bitch Freyde (Shandlmain Pesquero Blue) decided that she wanted more puppies! Unfortunately here at Shandlmain you always have to be one step ahead of these intelligent dogs, and if you are not they win over every time! I had not locked our back door after letting Freyde out for exercise so Freyde decided it would be a 'hoot' to let Voodoo out with her. Low and behold, by the time I saw Voodoo out with Freyde, it was too late and they were tied! We will wait and see what happens as we do not agree with the injection given to bitches in season that have had an accidental mating as it can make the bitch sterile.
27th September 2014 Today I had the honour of Judging Smooth Collies at Barking Open Show and what a wonderful show held at a fantastic venue all put together by an extremely friendly Committee. Critique is on the Critique page. I must say I had a thoroughly enjoyable day and although Smooth Collies there is not a large entry, it was a very worthwhile Judging appointment with a worthy Best of Breed who went on to achieve Pastoral Group 4.
5th October 2014 Today was East Anglian Collie Association Open Show. What a lovely day we had today! Tien our Smooth Collie handled by myself won the Open Bitch Class, Best of Breed Smooth Collie and then went on to win Reserve Best in Show! Many thanks to Breed Specialist Judge Mrs Verna Hills for an absolutely fantastic day.

24th October 2014 saw Midland Counties Championship Show with Breed Specialist Judge Derek Smith. I travelled alone being a Friday and Mark being at work and took our new hopeful, Shandlmain Silver Surfer (Flint) who won Minor Puppy Dog and then went on to win Best Puppy Dog in Breed. Many thanks to Derek Smith, this award qualified Flint for Crufts 2015 in style.

30th October 2014 Freyde's antics with Voodoo back in the summer resulted in puppies of which Freyde raised 3 bitches and 1 dog. The puppies in this litter are 2 blue merles (1 dog and 1 bitch) a tri colour bitch and and cryptic merle bitch. A Cryptic Merle is really a Blue Merle but appears to look like a tri colour so in laymans terms would be classed as a heavily marked blue merle. We have registered this puppy bitch as a Blue Merle so that there is no confusion in the future as if she were to be mistaken as a tri colour and mated with a blue merle dog, there is a possibility that she could produce double dilute white puppies which we do not want in the breed. We named her Shandlmain's Hidden Secret and her new owners have called her Kahleesee. We kept the Blue Merle bitch puppy whse Kennel Club name is Shandlmain Blu Seraph and will be known as Fleur, her blue brother is Shandlmain Silver Spirit (Logan) and the tri colour bitch is Shandlmain Tri T'stop Me (Matilda).
11th January 2015 - All puppies from the above litter are in their new homes

CRUFTS 2015 - We took along Flint (Shandlmain Silver Surfer) who was placed a respectable 3rd in his Puppy Class, he had a wonderful write up from Breed Specialist Judge Gwen Beaden and in the Judge's words had he been settled would have surely won the class, a shame that earlier another exhibitor had seen fit to wield a squeeky toy like someone possessed in front of him unsettling him as he had started the day full of confidence. Tien (Jack Mack's Hefin Huw, was shown in Limit Bitch and placed 2nd. So a good day for us at Crufts.
7th May 2015 - BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - First time out for a long while for Shandlmain Mariposa (Posa) Daughter of Shandlmain You Doo Voodoo x Wicani Essence of Myrrh for Shandlmain (Myrrh) who now keeps good company with my mother in Dorset. Posa qualified for Crufts 2016 by achieving a 2nd in Yearling Bitch ot of 14 bitches present under Smooth Collie Breed Specialist Trevor Hayward so that was a very nice placing for Posa today. Tien (Jack Mack's Hefin Huw) kept the flag flying for us as well under Smooth Collie Breed Specialist Pat Lister as well being placed 2nd in Limit Bitch also so again, another good placing for Tien.
17th May 2015 - SCOTTISH KENNEL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - Well, this show surely has to be highlighted in red as the show of the year for us this year. I collected Nick Smith from Stansted Airport and the following day drove up the country to Scotland with Tien (Jack Mack's Hefin Huw) a first time to Scotland for me and one I will remember forever. On arrival bumped into Stella Clark and Pat Lister, unfortunately Stella had injured her wrist and arm and was Judging Great Danes in the adjacent ring to Smooth Collies and was discussing how she was going to write her notes for her critique, so asked me if I would scribe for her. As Nick was handling Tien in the ring, I of course said that I would help and ended up not only scribing but helped Stewarding as well, as Stella could not write in her Judges book either except to mark her signature. I was ideally positioned to watch the Smooth Judging though and was thrilled to see Tien win a very strong Open Bitch Class and Nick's face is one I will remember of complete surprise. Was even better to see Tien win the Reserve Challenge Certificate under All Round Specialist Mr K R Newhouse (Annecy). I drove home that evening on Cloud 9!
8th JULY 2015 - Was the saddest of days at Shandlmain. Our beloved Shandlmain You Doo Voodoo had to be laid to rest after suffering a brain tumor which I must emphasise is not a hereditory condition as some would probably speculate, it just happened. Voodoo remains with us at Shandlmain, he has his place in our front room and will always be with us along with his greatest achievements. Never to be forgotten. Voodoo lives on in his daughter Shandlmain Mariposa here at Shandlmain and we plan to bring Voodoo's grandchildren in to the world early in 2016.
23rd October 2015 - MIDLAND COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - Today we took along Freyde (Shandlmain Pesquero Blue and Hunter (Brooklynson Errol Flynn) Freyde has not been shown much since she had her puppies and has only just recently come back out as has been getting her coat back so still needs to get back in condition but was placed 5th in Open bitch which was respectable as there were 10 entries, Hunter was placed 2nd in his Puppy class at his first Championship show and qualified for Crufts 2016. This was only HUnter's 3rd ever show as well so I was pleased with him as he showed extremely well and did not show me up at all! As I had been unwell, both dogs were handled by Ros MacDonald so I must thank Ros for stepping in and offering to handle for me.
26th April 2016 - Scan on Jack Mack's Hefin Huw - Confirmed pregnancy showing puppies due, Tien is 4 weeks and 1 day to the date of mating so puppies due at the end of May 2016 all being well. This will be our first litter of Smooth Collies, so we will no longer be Shandlmain Rough Collies but will now be Shandlmain Rough and Smooth Collies, a new chapter for us at Shandlmain, our first home bred Smooth Collies. Puppies will be co-registered with Nick and Anne Smith as we are co-owners of Tien.
29th May 2016 - Puppies Born to Jack Mack's Hefin Huw (Tien) - This morning, Tien gave birth to 7 healthy puppies, 6 blue merle dogs and 1 tri colour bitch. We were hoping for a blue merle bitch for our partners Anne and Nick Smith in Spain but was not to be so Nick and Anne will have a Blue Merle dog puppy instead and we will retain the tri colour bitch as planned, Mark however also has thoughts on retaining a blue merle dog too! Mark collected Anne from Stansted Airport this afternoon, Tien had finished whelping and was settled by the time Mark came home with Anne. Lovely for Anne to be able to be part of the early stages of the babies lives.
(unfortunately as sometimes happens with breeding - at day 3, one of the blue merle dog puppies passed away, so we have remaining 5 dog puppies and the tri colour bitch puppy who are all healthy. The dog puppy although appearing healthy never gained weight from birth).
3rd August 2016 - Jack Mack's Hefin Huw transferred back to Shandlmain ownership - After having co-owned Tien with Nick and Anne Smith since Tien was 5 months old, Tien has been transferred back into the ownership of myself and Mark and now is no longer co-owned with the Tentola Kennel although Tien will always be part of Nick and Anne's lives and I will always be grateful for Nick and Anne stepping in and helping me when I was injured and also campaigning Tien in 3 different countries and enabling her to get Junior Champion Titles and also adult CAC's and CACIB's. NIck and Anne Smith have taken on one of Tien's puppies, a very promising blue merle male who will be shown in Europe called Winter is Coming to Tentola, we wish 'Jon' all the very best for the future with Nick and Anne once he starts his new journey when he leaves home at the appropriate age.
2nd October 2016 - East Anglian Collie Association Open Show - Today with the puppies from Tien's litter being just over 4 months old, we entered them both (Summer Shadow's Shandlmain * Pesquero Premium Blu from Shandlmain) in the Puppy Walk at the Show. This is a class to give puppies an idea of showing and also qualifies the first placed puppy for East Anglian Collie Association Collie of the Year Competition. I must say that both Mark and myself were extremely pleased with both the puppies, they both moved extremely well and were not bothered by anything, they thoroughly enjoyed their day out, Alice (Summer Shadows Shandlmain) was placed 1st and Che (Pesquero Premium Blu for Shandlmain) was placed 2nd.
10th December 2016 - Ladies Kennel Association Championship Show - Today was the first time we could show the 2 Smooth Collie Puppies officially under Kennel Club Rules, so at only 6 months and 11 days old, we set off to the NEC at Birmingham with Summer Shadows Shandlmain (Alice) and Pesquero Premium Blu from Shandlmain (Che) for their first Championship Show with the puppies entered in Minor Puppy Classes. Both puppies were happy with their surroundings but Che was handled by a friend initially in the ring and moved across a loose plate that unsettled him somewhat so Mark went in the ring and took over, nevertheless, Che still qualified for Crufts 2017. Alice stood alone in her Minor Puppy Bitch class but charmed the pants off Breed Specialist Judge Mr Brian House, her tail did not stop wagging throughout, she thoroughly enjoyed herself, and I managed to avoid the loose plates on the floor! Alice had to challenge the Puppy Bitch winner for Best Puppy Bitch and won Best Puppy Bitch! at the end, we had to go on and Challenge again for Best Puppy in Breed and at only just over 6 months of age, our lovely Alice won Best Puppy in Breed, We are so very Proud! Judge Brian House said he could have taken her home with him, what a wonderful day!
We are now taking a break from showing for a while as I have an operation on my shoulder to contend with, had put it off to the end of the Year to be able to enter the dogs for the shows. Operation Scheduled for 15th December 2016.
2017
29 JANUARY 2017 - Cambridge Open Show - Took the Smooth Puppies (Summer Shadows Shandlmain and Pesquero Premium Blu from Shandlmain) along to Cambridge Open Show today, Breed Judge was Gina Stilwell, Judging both Smooth Collies and Rough Collies today. Pleased to say that Alice won Puppy Class and Best Puppy in Breed, Che had to be entered in a higher class and came 2nd in his class today.
We did not enter any Rough Collies ourselves but one of our homebred dogs owned by Lyndsay Smith, Shandlmain Driftinstorm (Mars) was entered so as always we were supporting Lyndsay and Mars, Lyndsay always presents Mars to perfection and handles him so extremely well, was wonderful to watch them win the Post Graduate class and Best of Breed Rough Collie and even moreso to watch the Group and see Lyndsay and Mars win Group 1 under Breed Specialist Miss Miranda Blake of Corydon Rough Collies.
18th/19th February 2017 - Granada International Show, Spain - News from Spain - Day 1 - Winter is Coming to Tentola (Jon) owned by Nick and Anne Smith and bred here at Shandlmain, litter brother of Alice and Che, won Group 2 and on Day 2 - won Group 1 - fantastic News!
12 MARCH 2017 - CRUFTS 2017 - We entered all the Smooth Collies but only had enough room for Alice and Che in the car so Tien stayed home, we did not enter the Rough Collies. We had a lovely day, Alice was placed 2nd in Puppy Bitch (at the time carrying a bit too much weight after her first season) and Che placed 1st in Puppy Dog Class and Best Puppy Dog in Breed under Breed Specialist Bev White and handled by Mark as my shoulder is still recovering from my operation in December which I discovered at the show in January, I have lack of any strength in the shoulder and no control so find it difficult to control the dogs on the move but I did just about manage to handle Alice. Was lovely to see Nick and Anne Smith and Gudrun and Petra as well and share a drink in the Bar, one thing I love about Crufts, the social aspect and seeing people from abroad that we do not see so often.
28 MAY 2017 - NEWS FROM DENMARK - We were extremely proud and happy to receive news today from our dear friend Birthe Fensten Madsen the the lovely SHANDLMAIN SILVARA is now a DANISH CHAMPION.
Birthe has only travelled to Shows with Silvara a total of 5 times and Silvara took her Championship Title in the last 3 outings against large entries! We are very pleased to say the least and many congratulations to Birthe and of course the wonderful Silvara who is from our two homebred Rough Collies, Shandlmain You Doo Voodoo x Shandlmain Pesquero Blue.

2 JULY 2017 - Windsor Championship Dog Show - Whilst we were away on our Annual Holiday, we received news that SHANDLMAIN CATCHMYKISSES FOR KEVRANNA owned/handled by Mrs Gloria Rice won 1st Open Bitch under Miss Miranda Blake of Corydon Rough Collies. This gives 'Yehva' her Stud Book Number and qualifies her for life for Crufts. Many congratulations to Yehva and Gloria!
15 JULY 2017 - National Working Pastoral Breeds Championship Show - We travelled to Malvern today as spectators, we had entered Shandlmain Mariposa but due to the recent UK Heatwave, 'Posa' has cast her coat and is in summer attire so we decided to leave her home today and go and support dogs that are bred by ourselves and owned by others instead and catch up with friends around the ring, as it has been quite a while since we have shown any rough collies ourselves in the UK, almost 2 years! Other dogs entered that are bred by ourselves were SHANDLMAIN DRIFTINSTORM owned/handled by Lyndsay Smith and SHANDLMAIN CATCHMYKISSES FOR KEVRANNA owned/handled by Gloria Rice, today's Judge was Steve Barrett of Brooklynson Rough Collies. We were so pleased that we made the effort today and travelled to Malvern and were present on what turned out to be an extremely memorable day for our small Kennel!
SHANDLMAIN DRIFTINSTORM (Mars) was in a very strong Open Class and to our delight was placed 1st Open Dog and then in the Challenge, won the Dog Challenge Certificate! Mars also later on went on to win Best Opposite Sex in Breed for Lyndsay, so perfectly turned out and shown as always! What a wonderful day for Lyndsay (and ourselves) 'Mars' is Lyndsay's first Rough Collie and Lyndsay has taken him to gain his Stud Book Number and qualify for Crufts for Life and win her first and also, our Kennel's first UK CC.
SHANDLMAIN CATCHMYKISSES FOR KEVRANNA was also in a very strong Open Class of 12 entries and was placed a very honourable 3rd place in the class which to me, as 1st to 3rd in Open Classes qualifies for UK Stud Book in Open Classes, shows that 'Yehva' along with her litter brother Mars, are quality rough collies. Hopefully, Yehva will achieve top honours in the Bitches as her brother has done in the Dogs, in my opinion, she is deserving.
Both SHANDLMAIN DRIFTINSTORM and SHANDLMAIN CATCHMYKISSES FOR KEVRANNA are homebred at Shandlmain and out of Demelewis Catchmydrift - Levi (whom we bought in as a 7 week old puppy) and Seryphina Stormkissed - Kenya (also bought in as a puppy), they are litter brother and sister and are the younger full brother and sister of the lovely SHANDLMAIN BLU GENES who has enough CC's in Sweden to hold her Champion Title and is owned by Micael Johansson of Seabounds Rough Collies.
22 JULY 2017 - LEEDS CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW - Following on from last weekend's show, we had entered Leeds Championship Show with 3 of our dogs, Shandlmain Mariposa and Shandlmain Pesquero Blue, our Rough Collie Bitches, but unfortunately had to leave both at home as 'Posa' had not enough coat after having a massive undercoat shed and 'Freyde' is in her final week of her season, so in my opinion, although not against KC Rules, inappropriate to take a Bitch in Season to a dog show as unfair on other exhibits (especially the male dogs), so we left the Rough Collies at home. We did take Tien, Jack Mack's Hefin Huw (Deu Imp) with us who was placed 3rd in Open Bitch, not as well as she fared last time under the same Judge who previously gave her Reserve CC.
After the Smooth Judging was finished which was not long as there were only 19 exhibits entered, we moved over to the Rough Collie ring to watch the Rough Collie Judging, such a shame our two girls were not able to be present today as have always respected today's Judge, Mrs Ros MacDonald of Rossavon Rough Collies, as being a fair and honest Judge who Judges to Breed Standard and gives all the same chance, we watched SHANDLMAIN DRIFTINSTORM (Mars) win Open Dog and then go on to win his 2nd CC! We are absolutely thrilled as is his owner, Lyndsay Smith. SHANDLMAIN CATCHMYKISSES FOR KEVRANNA was also entered again today and was placed 3rd in Open Bitch, so at her last 3 shows has been placed extremely highly in Rough Collie Class. Today was also Mark and I Wedding Anniversary so was a wonderful way to celebrate and spend the day!

Many thanks to Judges Mr Steve Barratt (Brooklynson) and Mrs Ros MacDonald (Rossavon) for thinking so highly of 'Mars', beautifully presented and shown by Lyndsay, 'Mars' has won his first 2 CC's in back to back shows over 2 consecutive weekends, 'Mars' has only attended a total of 6 Championship Shows to date from puppy until now. 'Mars' is also Lyndsay's very first Rough Collie, so it is really nice to see that these Judges have seen his qualities and awarded accordingly in strong competition with the Open Dog Classes entered.

2019
We took the early part of 2019 to concentrate on Smooth Collie puppies born here at Shandlmain in February from our homebred tri colour girl Alice (Summer Shadows Shandlmain) and our Blue Merle lady Tien (Jack Mack's Hefin Huw -imp Deu) and from resulting litters we have kept two tri colour dog puppies and one blue merle dog puppy has gone to live with a friend who will show him in co-ownership as I decided it would be too difficult to try to campaign 3 dog puppies at shows myself!

14th September 2019 - DARLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
Today we attended Darlington Championship Show with Hawk and Scout only as we decided would be good training and left Dad Eton at home (first time Eton has not attended a show since we have had him). Hawk won Minor Puppy Dog Class and Scout was placed 2nd Puppy Dog ( I cannot show both in the same class at the same time) under Judge Miss Diane Spavin. Really pleased that Scout qualified for Crufts at his first Championship Show. But the day got even better. Hawk won the Reserve Dog Challenge Certificate (and Best Puppy Dog) at only 6 and half months old, giving him his Stud Book Number and qualifying Hawk for Crufts for life! Absolutely thrilled at this result!

7th March 2020 - CRUFTS CHAMPIONHSIP DOG SHOW
I debated going to Crufts 2020, with the new Covid-19 Pandemic just starting to establish itself in the UK and Eton had been dropping his coat like no tomorrow. My youngest son Chris called me the Tuesday before Crufts and asked if I would be going, I told him I was debating it and Chris told me he would be going with his wife Georgina so I thought, yes, I will go as I wanted to see my son. I thought I would go on my own and not bother taking any dogs, then decided to give Eton a bath, well, he did not look too bad after his bath so I thought I would take him as company, Mark was working so I would be on my own. What a day to remember, Eton won his Limit class against a dog from overseas handled by a pro handler so I was pleased with that. In the Challenge I was concentrating on Eton, Eton has always been a mischief and I was concentrating on keeping him standing still, The Dog Challenge Certificate (and eventually Best of Breed) went to the Open Dog winner, a dog from overseas, and then whilst concentrating hard on Eton, I heard someone from the crowd behind say my name, I looked up and the Judge was calling Eton out for the Reserve Dog Challenge Certificate!! I was thrilled to bits! Eton's second Reserve CC and to be won at Crufts 2020 was a total honour! Many thanks to Judge Mr Grenville Francis for a fantastic win. I was thrilled also that Keira had taken Chief in Junior dog and had won her class also and Jon was placed VHC in a very strong Open Dog class.
