Past Shandlmain Female Rough Collies
We no longer breed or keep Rough Collies due to an operation on my shoulder which prevents me from grooming long coated breeds
pOSA SHANDLMAIN MARIPOSA (Retired) MDR1 +/+ (CLEAR) (Sire Shandlmain You Doo Voodoo, Dam Wicani Essence of Myrrh) Date of birth is 19th May 2013. Mariposa attended her first show at 6 months old and 1st Puppy and Best Puppy in Breed at Lincoln Canine Society. Second Show attended Mariposa 1st in Puppy, Best Puppy in Breed under Judge Tan Nagrecha (Chandlimore) and Pastoral Puppy Group 2 at Luton Canine Society Only being shown lightly, Posa has not been shown for a couple of years as we had a young dog bought in who decided he would take a liking to eating Posa's top coat and tended to bully her, suffice to day, he has since been rehomed, now Posa's coat has regrown so we will have a go at showing her again in the near future. Posa is retired and has now a loving home on a one to one basis |
Shandlmain Blu Genes
(photo copyright of Micael Johannson, Sweden) KRISTA is one of the most recent puppies bred here at Shandlmain, as we already have a blue merle bitch with Freyde, we decided at this point not to retain although knowing this puppy bitch was special from the day she was born, were hopeful that she would be shown in the future so were very happy when Micael Johannson of Seabounds Kennel in Sweden approached us. We are very happy that Krista has gone to Sweden to Micael and Fredrik. A repeat mating has given us 7 puppies (sisters and brothers to Krista) please see our puppy page for more information. Krista has gone on to be very successful in Sweden and Denmark winning well for her owners gaining enough CAC to become Champion but her owners would have to do Mental test for her to become a full Swedish Champion first. |
Shandlmain Pesquero Blue (Retired) Demelewis Catchmydrift x Wicani Cherryripe for Shandlmain Date of Birth - 28th March 2012 MDR1 +/- (CARRIER) Shandlmain Pesquero Blue, call name of 'Freyde' is our first homebred Blue Merle Bitch, out of our successful blue dog Levi and our wonderful bitch Cherry. We have waited a very long time to find the right dog and bitch for our first blue merle and we are happy with the result. Three puppies from this litter are currently being shown, Freyde at her very first show, qualified for Crufts 2013 by winning 2nd Minor Puppy bitch at Midland Counties Championship Show. Freyde's blue merle litter brother is also being shown and also a tri colour sister. At Freyde's 2nd show, London and Provincial Collie Club Championship Show, Freyde won Minor Puppy bitch class with an entry of 11 with 8 present under Breed Specialist Nick Smith. Freyde's 3rd show, Collie Association Championship Show, Freyde won her Minor Puppy Bitch class again, 19 Minor Puppy bitches entered and 16 present! Thank you to Breed Specialist Viv Anderton. Freyde then went on to win Best Minor Puppy in Show under famous all round Judge Ann Arch. What a fantastic day we had! Freyde attended Cambridge Open Show and won 1st Junior, Best Puppy in Breed, Best of Breed under Mrs Diane Spavin and then in the Group she achieved Pastoral Group 4 and Pastoral Puppy Group 2. A lovely day out for us all. Picture above taken at Cambridge Open Show. Freyde has recently been to Hinckley Open Show, winning Junior Class Best Puppy in Breed under Mr Denis Beardsworth and Pastoral Puppy Group 2. Freyde was at Herts & Essex Border Canine Society yesterday where she won Junior, Best Puppy in Breed, Best of Breed and Puppy Group 3. Breed Judge Britt-Marie Young (Sweden) Freyde attended Newmarket Open show at Ely and won graduate (dogs and bitches) and then was awarded Reserve Best of Breed behind the Veteran Bitch, at only 15 months old. After an extremely good show career, Freyde is now retired and due to an operation to my shoulder which prevents me grooming long coated breeds now, Freyde is living in a loving pet home where she is the only dog and pampered as a Princess should be. |
Wicani Essence of Myrrh (Never Shown)
Myrrh joined us as a 8 week old puppy but has never been shown as she has lighter ears than I like as a rule but has been bred from a CEA Genetically Free Stud Dog so has remained here with us for maternal duties so that we can hopefully make our contribution to the breed by breeding puppies that are carrying the CEA Genetically clear gene. Myrrh has been clinically tested for CEA at 6 weeks old with the result being Clear. Myrrh has also been tested for MDR1 and is a +/+ which means MDR1 Clear. Myrrh has been hip scored with the result being 4/5, well within the mean score breed standard of 12. Myrrh has gone to live in Dorset to keep my mother company and is thoroughly spoilt ;) |
Shandlmain Aurora (Maya) Wicani That Old Black Magic For Shandlmain x Wicani Cherryripe For Shandlmain MDR1 +/+ (CLEAR) Date of Birth - 7th October 2009 - 4th November 2018 'Maya' is a fabulous bitch that we were persuaded after this photo was taken of her at 8 months old, she could go and live with Dawn and Ray Muir on the agreement she would be shown. Maya was only lightly shown unfortunately as Ray and Dawn Muir decided they would use Maya for breeding instead of showing her of which they produced two litters from her within 8 months. After producing puppies we were called to say that they no longer wanted Maya, so Maya was returned home, unfortunately Maya was less confident than when she left home originally and would not settle with the rest of our dogs so although we would have loved to have retained Maya and shown her as was the original intention for her, the decision was made to let her go to a one on one home and now Maya lived out her life with her dedicated owner enjoying life immensely. Maya passed away on 4th November 2018 suddenly at 9 years of age. |
Shandlmain Kissed by Magic (Faith)
Wicani That Old Black Magic From Shandlmain x Strawberry Kisses From Shandlmain Date of Birth - 18th June 2008 ‘Faith’ was the last puppy that ‘Suki’ produced here at Shandlmain. Out of a litter of 4 puppies, Faith was retained and became a constant winner at both Open and Championship Level but was unfortunately spooked at a show due to heavy handing from the Judge on the day. Faith now lives with Collette Allen in Guernsey and has been successfully shown in Guernsey as well. |
.Wicani Cherryripe for Shandlmain (Cherry)
Spanish Ch Wicani Leading Light x Wicani China Doll Date of Birth - 12th April 2008 MDR1 +/- (CARRIER) 'Cherry' has never been shown as we were waiting for her to mature and then decided to let her have her first litter. I have not looked back since, Cherry has been worth her weight in gold as the best brood bitch I could ever ask for. Cherry has produced to date 34 puppies for us at Shandlmain out of 4 litters and is the most devoted mother anyone could ask for. Cherry has produced puppies that have gone on to qualify and be placed at Crufts and that have won Best Puppy at Championship Shows. Cherry is pictured above with her very last litter and is now retired. |
Shandlmain Stolen Kisses (Milly)
Champion Brooklynson From Rio x Strawberry Kisses From Shandlmain Date of Birth - 13th June 2005 From ‘Suki’s’ first litter, ‘Milly’ started her show career extremely well, was consistently a first prize winner at both Open and Championship Shows, also winning Best Puppy Bitch at Championship Level. Unfortunately, she was spooked at a show and never recovered from it and was unable to be shown after. Milly was retired from showing and lives happily with her new family. |
Strawberry Kisses From Shandlmain (Suki) Amalie Mild Affair x Rossavon Dark 'n' Delicious Date of Birth - 12th November 2002 CEA Eye Clear at 6 Weeks Hips - 8/8 ‘Suki’ is now retired from Showing Suki achieved many awards during her showing career and was rarely ‘out of the cards’, her very first show at 6 months old she qualified for Crufts 2003 where she was placed 3rd in a huge class even though she had left her ‘best clothes’ at home! Suki won many classes in Open and Championship Shows, won herself her UK Kennel Club Stud Book Number, won Puppy Groups, Groups at Open level, Best of Breeds and Reserve Best of Breeds at General and Collie Club Open Shows and a Reserve Best Bitch at Championship level. Suki also produced three beautiful litters for us at Shandlmain, one puppy who lives in Greece and another in Guernsey. Four of her puppies were shown and all qualified for the prestigious Crufts.
